It is fantastic that you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Language Support Volunteer you will be working with clients, whose understanding of English is limited, to provide translation assistance (written and verbal) at our private rented drop-in sessions. The most common languages needed for translation are:

• Arabic
• Somali
• Kurdish
• Tigrinya
• Polish
• Pashtu

However, although a language skill would be really beneficial, any volunteers who are committed and ready to be trained with ‘language line’ (a translation tool) would be really encouraged to apply! Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

• Bristol-Mondays, 2-4pm fortnightly and/or Wednesdays, 10-12pm fortnightly.

The attached role description will give you more information on the type of tasks you’ll be undertaking in this role as well as the support you’ll get from us in return. Please do state on the application form, the language that you can support and translate with.
